Secondary Research:

Secondary Research is: The collection of Research for a specific project. The thing that I am going to be researching is 'Target Audience'. I have already gone into depth about the results that I found out, but in this I am going to be looking into other people's ideas of what they think the typical target audience of a Thriller is and the reasons about it.

After researching what other people have found out about the thriller target audience, I can see that the target audience is varied from any age between 14-70+, but different sub genres are more specific to a gender and the age range. For example:  The target audience for a psychological thriller, is 18+, where as a crime thriller is more likely to be a 15+ because of the idea that the violence and psychological issues maybe something that would put a younger age would not enjoy and understand as much. Going into more detail about thriller target audience of the sub genre psychological, may have an older target audience because of the idea that it maybe intellectually demanding for the younger age ranges. 

Advancing my research i found out that the main sub genres are:

• Horror -  Insidious (2010)
• Action - Taken (2008)
• Psychological - Se7en (1995)
• Romantic - State (1998)
• Political - Caracks (2009)
• Supernatural/Fantasy - The Gifts (2000)
• Techno - Swordfish (2001)

After looking into the sub genres it gave me the idea that each one has more of a specific target audience. By realising this it made myself realise that when doing my research if I had just asked one gender or a specific age rage then that will be the target audience I am stuck with, and the one that I am trying to keep interested in what I create my opening sequence of a thriller.
